New Forest SUPERSTARS - Priestlands Secondary School
25th June 09
In June 2009, Priestlands School played host to the first New Forest Super Stars Competition. The competition was to celebrate Gifted & Talented pupils in Years 7 and 8 from five schools across the Forest. The four winners from each age group then went on to compete for the New Forest in the Hampshire leg of the competition.
At the New Forest Super Stars competition there were six disciplines, ranging from duathlon and fitness through to golf target putting. Many of the events were hard fought between all the competitors from the schools and produced many even scores throughout.
The Year 7 boys section proved to be the most competitive of all the groups, with only 3 points separating 1st and 2nd! The winner of this category was Ben Brealey from Noadswood School with Jamie Shaw, also from Noadswood qualifying for the next round.
The girls Year 7 category proved to be a one-girl-contest with Rosie Young (Hardley School) running away with a 68 point gap over her closest rival! Noadswood and Testwood shared the spoils in the Year 8 boy’s category, with the Year 8 girls being dominated once again by those two schools with Hardley School separating them. As well as there being individual winners in each category there was also the matter of the trophy for overall school winner which went to Noadswood.
Congratulations to Noadswood for becoming this year’s winner and also to all the pupils who achieved qualification. Everyone who took part and who was involved with the support of this years Super Stars competition also need to be congratulated for making it such a success!
