NFSSP medal successes during the National School Sport Week

New Forest Primary Schools Athletic Teams win Gold and Bronze at the County Championships! The Hampshire and IOW Schools Year 5 and 6 Athletics Championships at Southampton Sports Centre on the 2nd July 2008 proved a very successful day for the New Forest Primary Schools representative athletic teams.

Having selected two teams (A team and B team), 6 boys and 6 girls per team from the two Primary Athletics evening meetings earlier in June, they were put forward to compete at this event.

The programme started with 75m sprints, included field events and concluded with the 4x100m relays. All New Forest pupils were a credit to their schools, with some outstanding performances, particularly in the sprints and relays. Notable performances came from George Hayward 75m, Sam Long 75m, Pia Marshall 75m, Rosie Young 150m, Eloise Phear 600m and the girls, boys and mixed relay teams were the quickest teams on the day. There were 18 teams competing in total representing 11 of the School Sport partnerships from within Hampshire.

The end result of the event was New Forest ‘A’ team announced as the overall winners with Gold and the New Forest ‘B’ team as Bronze medallists.
