Abbotswood bowled over by Kwik victory
Totton and Ealing Cricket Club
May 19th 2010

ABBOTSWOOD battled through a whole day’s cricket to become the 2010 New Forest School Sports Partnership Kwik Cricket tournament winners. Totton & Eling Cricket Club played host once again to this year’s competition, which boasted a total of 16 teams and over 150 competitors. The fine weather graced a very competitive and extremely exciting competition with some schools across the forest competing in for the first time.

The second phase of the competition in the afternoon saw the top 4 places contested by an impressive Abbotswood and Lymington, with Blackfield and Ashley also in the mix. Abbotswood started the stronger, overcoming a Lymington side that bowled well but struggled to keep up the momentum with the bat. Lymington however were victorious over Ashley who contrived to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, losing only on wickets conceded.

After the last ball had been bowled there was only going to be one winner. The batting and bowling class shone through and Abbotswood were crowned the new champions. As Competitions Manager my thanks go to Totton & Eling CC for supplying the venue and food, ASDA for supporting with extra refreshments for the event and Hounsdown School Cricket Leaders for umpiring duties on the day, thanks go to all involved once again.
