New Forest Primary
Indoor Sportshall (Yr5-6) at College
28th November 2009

On Saturday 28th November the New Forest School Sports Partnership ran their first indoor athletics competition of the season at Applemore Leisure Centre. The Year 5 and 6 event was held with support from New Forest Juniors Athletics Club and sports leaders from Hardley Secondary School and Testwood Sports College. The event ran very successfully with 14 teams represented from eight local primary schools: Ashley, Abbotswood, Blackfield, Marchwood, Hyde, Foxhills, Tiptoe and Waterside.

All the Year 5 and 6 pupils that took part in the competition gave huge commitment to each of the disciplines which resulted in a highly charged contest. After all the field events had been completed the scores were added up for each team and combined with the results from the running events.

After all the scores from each discipline were collated the overall winners were Abbotswood A. Blackfield A finished in second with the Abbotswod B team finishing third. Abbotswood will now go on to represent the New Forest at the County Sportshall Athletics event in March 2010.

Well done to everyone who took part in this years event and good luck to Abbotswood in the County Finals.
