Girls Football
Poulner Junior School
April 25th 2008

Poulner Junior School in Ringwood played host to 140 Girls from all over the New Forest for the sixth New Forest Primary School Sport Girls Football Competition. Once again this event was blessed by the weather. With the warm sun beating down we were treated to an excellent afternoon of football.

With the 14 teams split into two group of seven it was the Orchard A team that set the pace scoring a massive 21 goals and conceding none in their six group games, making them early favourites to lift the trophy for the third time in six years.

Alongside Orchard in the Semi Finals were Ballard, Blackfield and Ashley. Ashley saw off Blackfield in their Semi and with Orchard finishing Ballard’s run. We were set for an excellent final between two teams from different sides of the Forest.

Representing the West were Ashley and from the East were clear favourites Orchard. The final was extremely close the whole way, and the two teams were only separated by the one goal from team Orchard. Orchard managed to hold off an onslaught from the strong Ashley team to b crowned the Girls Football 2008 champions.

The referees were supplied by Eastleigh College and were also part of the Eastleigh Football Club academy squad.
