The Girls Football event took place on Friday 7th November at Testwood Sports College on their state-of-the-art rubber crumb football pitch.

The festival saw just over 100 girls take part in a thrilling afternoon of football. The day started with rain but ended up sunny and this definitely paid off on the matches, as the games played were fast, bright and fun.

The teams were spilt into three groups with the winners of each group progressing through to the ‘gold group’, runners-up into the ‘silver group’ and the 3rd placed teams into the ‘bronze group’. The initial group stages were keenly fought although it was last year’s runners-up Fordingbridge that started off in fantastic fashion scoring freely and showing some amazing skills.

The bronze group involved Ashley B, Calmore and Poulner. Games were very close and it was Calmore who came out on top in the end to win the bronze group.

The sliver group was also running on another pitch between Ashley A, Marchwood and New Milton. This group was eventually won by Ashley A.

The gold group was contested by Fordingbridge, Orchard and Ringwood. Fordingbridge once again proved too strong for the other teams and won both their games to become the new Girls Floodlit Football champions 2008.
