Early results of the annual
PESSCL survey
The results show over 3,000 more young people are now participating
in 2 hours of PE and school sport than were taking part at this
time last year in the New Forest district.
Since the Partnership's conception in September 2005, the team have
been making strides to increase the baseline figure of 55% (of young
people participating in 2 hours of PE and School Sport) to a national
target of 85%.
Early indicators (79%) show that at the end of the summer term 2006
data entered by each school in the partnership shows an increase
of 24%, well above the target agreed by the DFES of 70%.
The Partnership Development Manager, Peter Brailey praised both
the work of the Partnership's staff, the Primary Link Teachers and
importantly the Head Teachers who have sanctioned the increase curriculum
provision and develop out of ours school sport.
"The commitment towards the Partnership and DFES aims has
been tremendous." With one eye on the future he concluded,
"We are very confident that the momentum gained within the
first year will lead to an early achievement of the 2008 national
target of 85%."
