New Forest School Teams Coached by 2006 Netball Superleague Champions, Team Bath.

Local netball league winners, including Year 10 girls from Applemore College, took advantage of an opportunity to hone their skills with Team Bath, the Netball Superleague Champions, whose team members include Commonwealth Games medallists and other national and international athletes.
The Applemore team were last year's U14 New Forest Netball league winners and they were lucky enough to spend a day at Fleming Park Leisure Centre in Eastleigh. Along with other top local teams they were coached by the Team Bath players under the leadership of England U21 Coach, Lyn Gunson, who was also offering guidance to PE teachers at the event.
Applemore were supported by the New Forest School Sport Partnership for the event, which was organised by Sport Hampshire & IOW, Team Bath and England Netball South with the aim of introducing grass roots players to the elite athletes.

Joanne Long, who teaches the team from Applemore, stated "This was a wonderful opportunity for talented young netball players to benefit from the experience of players at the highest level of the game. The whole team were inspired by the event and ended the day on a high by winning all their games in the round robin tournament".

Peter Brailey, NFSSP Partnership Development Manager added "To have players and coaches of Team Bath's calibre visit the local area and work with school teams is a fantastically motivating experience and exactly the type of event we are looking to encourage within the New Forest area".
